Ten Short Songs is composed as a set of contrasting songs using various marimba techniques and styles. The songs may be grouped together in a variety of ways to be performed as a suite. The number of songs used and the order in which they are arranged is left to the discretion of the performer.

ABOUT THE COMPOSER
Keith Larson has taught percussion in the Kansas City area since 1980. Keith studied percussion with William J. Schinstine, Larry Mathis, Saul Goodman. Keith has performed with the Pottstown Symphony, Birmingham Symphony (now the Alabama Symphony), Kansas City Symphony, Des Moines Metro Summer Opera, Birmingham Civic Opera, and various big bands, jazz bands, pop/rock groups. As a composer, in addition to his percussion compositions, Keith Larson has been commissioned to compose works for Symphony Orchestras, Wind Ensembles, Choirs, Jazz Bands, and various chamber music groups. His published works are available from C. Alan Publications and Southern Music Company. Keith Larson is a 30-year member of the Percussive Arts Society, 20- year member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers), and a member of MENC. He also serves as music director of the Kansas City Youth Percussion Ensemble.
