For over 25 years Kent Burnham has been a driving force in the Kansas City music scene. Kent's love of the drums started under the tutelage of Roger Griffey at age seven. Kent played drums in marching band and concert band through high school. He attended CMSU until he joined the band Banshee and enjoyed international success with an Atlantic/Titanium release and MTV video. Since then, Kent has performed and recorded with diverse groups that include Mr. Marco's V7, Jeff Scheetz Band, Sticks of Thunder at Union Station, Mark Southerland and Snuff Jazz, Brody Buster, Owen/Cox Dance Group, Bob Harvey Band, Eddie Money and Craig Erikson. He has also played in theater productions of The Wall, The Oil Boiler and Bucket of Blood.
Kent began teaching at Explorers Percussion in 1989. He accepts students of all levels and provides patient guidance in reading and performing. Kent specializes in customizing lessons for a student's individual needs. Topics covered include but aren't limited to hand/foot technique, coordination, independence, snare drum and rudiments, tuning and recording. Kent is proficient in Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Fusion, Latin, Soul, Double Bass and Linear Styles.
